The Gravity: STCC4 Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Sensor is a highly cost-effective, multi-functional air quality monitoring module designed for rapid hardware integration and scalable deployments. Utilizing the Sensirion STCC4 high-performance gas sensing chip based on the Thermal Conductivity (TC) measurement principle, this sensor delivers stable and reliable CO2 concentration readings. Its standout feature is the combination of extreme affordability with 3-in-1 measurement capabilities, integrating an onboard SHT40 sensor to provide simultaneous CO2 (with a measurement range of 400 to 5,000 ppm and an accuracy of ±[100 ppm + 10%]), ambient temperature, and humidity data.

Operating on a wide 3.3V to 5V voltage range and communicating via a standard I2C interface, it eliminates complex wiring and soldering. This makes the module highly suitable for deploying multi-node indoor air quality monitoring networks, building automation systems, smart home setups, and educational STEM projects where budget constraints, compact size, and ease of use are primary considerations.

True CO2 Measurement

The Gravity STCC4 CO2 sensor powered by Sensirion’s advanced Thermal Conductivity (TC) technology, it directly measures the physical thermal properties of the surrounding air to calculate absolute CO2 concentration (400–5000 ppm). Supported by a built-in Automatic Self-Calibration (ASC) algorithm, it ensures long-term stability and pin-point accuracy. Say goodbye to inaccurate estimations and build your HVAC automations, air quality alarms, and smart home systems on data you can actually trust.

Gravity STCC4 vs Traditional eCO2 Sensors Comparison

Unmatched Cost-Effectiveness for Scalable IoT Networks

By leveraging Thermal Conductivity technology, the manufacturing and operational costs are significantly reduced compared to traditional NDIR or PAS sensors. This high accessibility allows developers, engineers, and educators to build multi-room air quality networks or large-scale distributed IoT deployments without exceeding hardware budgets. It provides a highly viable alternative when deploying dozens of high-cost professional sensors is financially impractical.

3-in-1 Sensing with Automatic Compensation

The inclusion of the onboard SHT40 sensor transforms the module from a single-purpose gas detector into a comprehensive environmental node. It continuously monitors ambient temperature and humidity, actively utilizing this data to automatically compensate the CO readings. This ensures reliable accuracy in fluctuating indoor climates, outputs three critical environmental metrics from a single device, and simplifies the overall system architecture.

Seamless Integration and Plug-and-Play Design

Hardware development is streamlined through the standard Gravity I2C interface. The wide 3.3V to 5V operating voltage ensures native compatibility with popular microcontrollers such as Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi. The plug-and-play nature eliminates the need for breadboards, soldering, or complex level-shifting circuitry, significantly reducing development time and accelerating the transition from prototype to final product.

Low Power Consumption for Continuous Monitoring

Designed for modern, energy-conscious applications, the module supports a highly efficient power profile. With a continuous measurement current of just 950 μA and a deep sleep mode drawing merely 1 μA, it is optimized for battery-powered smart home nodes and remote environmental monitoring stations requiring long-term, uninterrupted operation.
