The BBC micro:bit is a pocket-sized codeable computer with motion detection, a built-in compass, LED display, and Bluetooth technology built in.
It measures 4cm by 5cm, is available in a range of colours, and designed to be fun and easy to use. It can be coded with something simple in seconds – like lighting up its LEDs or displaying a pattern – with no prior knowledge of computing.
It also connects to other devices, sensors, kits and objects, and is a companion to Arduino, Galileo, Kano, littleBits and Raspberry Pi, acting as a spring board to more complex learning.
Each element is completely programmable via easy-to-use software on a dedicated website (www.microbit.co.uk) that can be accessed from a PC, tablet or mobile.
Our Python editor is perfect for those who want to push their coding skills further. A selection of snippets and a range of premade images and music give you a helping hand with your code.

Micro:Bits in primary classrooms
Micro:bits were the perfect way to explore the implementation strand of the Digital Technoliges classrooms in the 3-8 classrooms I support. It is simple to get started but there are so many places to take it.
microbit for STEM - weather station network
Great product and tool to explore STEM education. Combine with extra shields from either Sparkfun or Seeed and it extends the capability of microbit. I was able to construct a radio network of 4 microbits using both the weather shield and Grove shields with Grove BME280 into a node-red PC page. Lots of fun.
Looks great Philip
Micro:Bit is more than I expected
Micro:Bit is fun to explore and very accessible to non programmers via the web based blocks tool which encourages experimentations without having to worry about getting all the commas and full stops in the right places
Good, the product was delivered as promised.
Updates during deliver is great, but lengthy delivery time
My package was sent 2 working days later than expected arrival date, however I believe this was primarily on Auspost end and not Pakronics. I received updates about the delivery both by Pakronics and Auspost which is great.
