The HUSB238 USB PD sink chip offers a varied range of functionality. With the use of resistors, you can select the desired PD voltage and current. For dynamic querying and setting, there is an I2C bus. Our Adafruit USB Type C Power Delivery Dummy Breakout board makes integration and configuration easy without needing to solder any resistors.
This USB Type C breakout plugs into a USB C cable and uses the CC lines to negotiate the PD requests and commands for multiple voltage wall adapters, including 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, 18V and 20V. With it, we can find the highest available voltage or select a specific voltage as needed.
This breakout is an ideal solution for projects needing a lot of power, offering up to 100W of power of 20V and 5A, enabling you to adjust the voltage to 5V or 12V to get high current. It can be used even for battery powered devices with USB C.
By default, the device comes hard-wired for 5V 1A output, easy to configure using jumpers. Cut the 5V jumper and solder closed the 9V, 12V, 15V, 18V or 20V jumper to determine the voltage. Additionally, you can select the current from 2A to 3A. No need for a microcontroller or microcomputer.
I2C-configured usage is a little more challenging. Since the Vout can be as high as 20V we don't have an onboard voltage regulator or pullup resistors. Connect to a microcontroller or microcomputer board that has a separate power supply (or that can regulate from up-to-20V if you plan on selecting that high) and I2C pullup resistors to your desired logic level. Then use the Arduino library and example code to query the USB Type C PD source for available voltages and currents and select the desired voltage dynamically. When configuring over I2C, the jumper settings are used on startup until the I2C commands come over.
Comes with a small bit of header and a terminal block so you can decide whether you want to use it in a breadboard, or free-wired.

Receipt of deliveries
Deliveries to post office boxes are not permitted where delivery is by courier. If delivery is by courier and nobody is available at the delivery address to accept delivery when delivery is attempted then the courier may either:
- leave the relevant parcel at the unattended address (the courier will do so if specified in your delivery requirements); or
- re-attempt delivery at a later time or date, in which case we may charge you an additional re-delivery fee.
Note that if a delivery is left unattended at the shipping address and is subsequently stolen then the theft is your responsibility, not ours.
